What to Expect from “The Tipsy Traveler”

Traveling and learning about the best places to eat, drink and stay is a large part of what I do for a living. (I know, it’s a hard job, but someone has to do it.) I’ve tasted whisky at the highest whisky distillery in the world in the Swiss Alps in St. Moritz; I’ve enjoyed rum aged in a barrel at the bottom of the ocean in the Cayman Islands; I’ve had a pint of beer at the oldest pub in Nottingham Forest, England, which opened in 1189 AD; I’ve traveled to many of the world’s best cocktail bars, and a ton of Michelin-starred restaurants, spanning 10 countries (and counting); but I don’t publish most of what I experience. That’s always felt like a wasted opportunity to me; especially seeing as one of my goals as a journalist is to inspire other people to eat, drink, travel and experience life’s finest pleasures by sharing the intel that I gather.

The Tipsy Traveler is, in essence, my informative guide to eating, drinking, staying and playing around the world. It’s the marriage of my experience as a former cocktail bartender, and as an award-nominated drinks journalist who travels the world in search of the best drinks, and where to have them.

You’ll gain tons of lifestyle-enhancing intel from my indulgent field research (i.e drinking and traveling) without the jet lag or hangovers (you know how many bad drinks I’ve had to sift through?). It’s the least I can do, and I hope you come along for the ride; it’s going to be an entertaining one to say the least.

Tyler’s published work has been featured in Food & Wine, PUNCH, Liquor.com, Condé Nast Traveler, Eater, Evening Standard, Foodism, Drinks International and more.

About Tyler

I’m a London-based, American drinks and travel journalist with nearly a decade of work in the drinks industry as both a writer and cocktail bartender. I’ve written about a range of subjects, including how to make Super Juice, a low-waste citrus component for cocktails, which was published on PUNCH; and why the delectable Champagne Piña Colada is a modern classic cocktail everyone should be drinking for Food & Wine. In addition to Food & Wine and PUNCH, my work has also been published in Eater, Liquor.com, Condé Nast Traveler, Wine Enthusiast, Evening Standard, Drinks International and more.

Given my unique skill set as a writer, content creator and bartender, I’ve served as a consultant for bars and brands around the world, with previous clients including drinks industry powerhouses such as Diageo and AB InBev. I’ve managed social media accounts for spirits brands, while partnering with others to create engaging photo content; and I’ve served on judging panels globally for cocktail and spirits competitions alike.

In 2022, I was shortlisted as an emerging talent in spirits communication by the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC), and have also been featured as a drinks expert in Bloomberg, Fast Company, Forbes, Liquor.com and more.

That’s my deal in a nutshell. When I’m not in bars, at my laptop writing, or traveling around the world to cover stories about drink culture, you can find me on Instagram, sharing moments from my tipsy traveling lifestyle.
